Mares
Most successful breeders will reiterate the importance of the mare when breeding a particular type of horse and we are no exception. We strive to find offspring from graded mares and when buying dressage and jumping youngstock try to buy produce from State and Verband Premium graded mares. We also look to what the dam line has produced in the past and have been fortunate to secure horses from some very successful German lines. It is a little more difficult to follow this with eventing stock but where possible we look for a mare that has performed to a certain level herself or is producing stock that is being successfully graded.

Here is a selection of some of the mares that we have either bought youngstock from or are actively breeding from. If you would like full details of the damlines we will be happy to supply these to you. All our German mares are fully pink papered and have many years of pedigree.

‘Elfe’
We have an exceptional Florencio yearling out of Elfe. She continues the famous ‘Elfenbraut’ line and is the second Florencio offspring she has bred. Her dam, the State Premium mare ‘Elfenhaar’ is the full sister to the top sires Swift and LG Flyinge and she herself produced the very successful German dressage champions Liberty Largo, Lockvogel II and Rubidour.

We have full details of this famous dressage line and these are available on request.

‘Gretja’
This State Premium mare was bred by Paul Schockemohle and has produced some exceptional offspring. The damline itself has produced the young jumping stallion Balou du Rouet and the successful dressage stallion, Daddy Cool. One of Gretja’s most successful offspring is ‘Arriscraft Cassius' (by Continue) who is competing in Canada in 1.6m classes.

He was originally owed and competed by Keenan White but we have been informed by Star White that he has now been sold to Eric Lamaze. We have been very fortunate to secure the purchase of Gretja’s 2005 offsring, a stunning filly by Quidam’s Rubin. She is in foal again to this stallion and is due in February 2006.

We have had many enquires about Quidams Rubin and the offspring he has started producing and we hope to secure the purchase of her 2006 foal for one of our clients. Further details on ‘Gretja’s’ line and on Arriscraft Cassius are available on request.

'Athen’
We purchased Athen as one of our foundation mares from Bernd Husslage, one of Germany’s top breeders. Bernd and his family have produced many top horses and in 2005 Bernd sold ‘Dark Angelo’ through Vechta for an exceptional EUR 240,000. Bernd’s father purchased the great Donnerhall as a foal but later sold him on – hindsight is a great thing!

Athen continues the significant performance line of Acka. The grandma, VP/Elite mare Akkasion produced the top sport and licensed stallion Full Speed. Athen herself is a very impressive individual now standing at 17hds, she is very athletic and although she is a chestnut mare she has a lovely temperament.

She is Main Studbook registered and was Broodmare performance tested in 2004 gaining a total index of 7.35 and achieving a Verband Premium. We have her grading papers and copies of these are available on request. She has bred a stunning black colt by the great Don Primero and she is currently in foal to Rosario.

‘Secret Promise’
Secret Promise or Corky as she is known to us was bred by Mrs Ann Crank who has also bred the great Iris’s Gift and Forrest Gunner - however Corky was not bred for a racing career! She evented up to intermediate standard with the much missed Caroline Pratt and had an excellent jumping technique.

Her weakness was her dressage and although she was perfectly capable of going well at home she would nearly always ‘blow up’ when the judges horn went at an event. It was therefore very important to us that the stallion we select had a good temperament and so far her offspring have been fine under competition pressure.

First Promise, by Daywell Pacific Gold was a Burghley Young Event Horse finalist with Clare Phillips and has gone on to event a pre-novice level. Her second foal is by a young french bred showjumping stallion, Loulou De Villier. Loulou is currently competing successfully with Nicky Boulter and Nick Charles and his future looks very promising.

Deuxieme De Viller or Freddie as we call him has been shown in-hand in County Level Sports Horse classes and has always finished in the ribbons. He will be backed in 2006 and then turned away again to mature. Our aim with him will be to compete in the PAVO young horse classes in a couple of years time.
